The impact of recent case law on commercial contracts

In collaboration with the Hastie Stable, the WS Society will host a morning conference on Commercial Contracts on 5 March 2015, chaired by Michael Howlin QC. The conference will delve into the impact of recent decisions of the Supreme Court and Court of Session, in the context of advising parties to Scottish commercial contracts. The focus will be the practical consequences of the fast evolving body of case law. The course is designed for commercial litigators, corporate and commercial solicitors in private practice and in-house counsel.

Sessions:

Interpretation of contracts – an analysis of Grove Investments Limited v Cape Building Products Ltd 2014
Damages for breach of contract in commercial actions
Drafting issues – common pitfalls including unfair contract terms and exclusions clauses
Repudiatory breach of contract - Société Générale v Geys and the Soccer Savings cases in the Court of Session.
